Lovely: September.

Every Month I am going to do a blog completely devoted to 7 things I obssessed about during said month. Because top sevens are much cooler than top fives of tens.

1. The pink door featured on So Pickin' Cutes September 10 blog. Amazing. In my imagination I'm living in this adorable house and every room is pink themed and frou frou. And I have gorgeous tea and cupcake parties in my back yard with all the lovely southern ladies I've become friends with.

2. The Piped Rose Cupcakes from marthastewart.com. If they serve these cupcakes in heaven, I'm going to join a convent.

3. Community. I was really suprised at how effing hilarious this show is. Chevy Chase's character is priceless in his immaturity And also..it stars my future dream husband...Joel McHale. Dont' judge.

4. Second Place at the fair. So exciting! This is honestly the first prize I have ever won in my life.
Photobucket
5. Lady GaGa's Mickey costume from her 'Paparazzi' video. Is this outfit not amazing? I would so wear it out in public. No sarcasm.
Photobucket
6.The Marie Antoinette heels. I would do anything to own a pair. Except pay for them. They are by the infamous Christian Louboutin and run at about $6,295. Ouch.
Photobucket
7. Hardcore Black eye makeup. Easily my new signature look. It's a pain in the arse to do, but the effort is so worth it when hormonal 20 something guys can't stop staring at your eyes instead of your chest.

Happy Birthday.

Happy Birthday to my good friend Harrison. Thought I'd give him some poker themed cupcakes since he's celebrating in vegas; most likely gambling all his money away.

I'm a bran spankin' new member of this--what exactly is twitter?--online community(?)I just joined today at the advice of my mother. It's pretty cool. All you really do is talk about what you're doing. And we all know I love to do that. So if you have a twitter account: follow me, and I'll follow you. It will be fun. I promise.

Collage This!

These are collages I made a while ago using: old newspapers, internet print outs, construction paper, tissue paper, feathers, and a butt-load of mod podge.
I sold the Marilyn Monroe one on my etsy shop a few months ago. Made 30 dollars off it which excited me. It was the first piece of art I ever sold. Audrey and Jackie O' are now for sell on my etsy site if you're interested: www.urbansplat.etsy.com
Who should I do a collage of next? Anybody got any good ideas?

Mon Chéri.

There is nothing I like more than watching Black and White french films from back in the day; with a cup of tea and my crotchet tools. I am a little old lady trapped in a 20 year olds body.
My faveorite movie of this genre: black and white and in French, is 'Jules et Jim' starring Jeanne Moreau, Oskar Werner, and Henri Serre.
Not only is there an interesting story to be had, the simple fashion and over all look is to die for. Also...not to sound weird or anything: I totally have a crush on Oskar Werner and his blonde Austrian-ness.

Bonjour Three Point Landing!

Okay. I know this will sound like a stupid publicity stunt or whatever; but I felt it necessary to at least give these guys some cred seeing as how I totally bailed out of going to their show this coming friday in favour of editing photos on Adobe Photoshop and watching old french movies. Sorry guys. And also, the members of this band have no idea I am even writing about them on my blog. I swear.
So fresh out of Glendora California comes the power pop/pop punk band 'Three Point Landing'

And not just because I am friends with the Rythm Guitarist ScoTty Holmes am I writing about them. I am writing about them because I really do think they are a good band. I've seen them live a handful of times and always have a ton of fun at their shows. They are energetic and lively and just seem to be insanely happy on stage doing what they do. They've just finished recording their E.P 'Feeling Good Feels Good' and have added a few songs to their myspace profile: www.myspace.com/threepointlanding
So have a look. Have a listen. If you like it, awesome. If not, okay.
They are playing at The Roxy friday night.

All images coutesy of So Pickin' Cute. Love that blog.
I really hate that tables and chairs set in the dining room. I would not put those in my house. But I do love the wallpaper and chandelier in that photo. I'm a hundred percent certain that my house decorations wont coordinate or flow easily from room to room. I like it though. I better hurry up and get my masters so I can afford to move into my dream home.

Way to Stat a Blog.

I tried to write a blog last year. That turned out to be an epic fail. So here I am starting round two of blog attempts with great news! Last year, my first time sculpting-EVER!- I made this adorable statue of a cyclops girl. I had no idea what I was doing so I just started playing around with the clay I was using in my ceramics class. I began making the form for my cyclops girl-something I had been drawing since I was fifteen. I had such a bad time making this sculpture. I dropped it. Stepped on it. Broke it. Carved too deeply in it creating holes. But through thick and thin, when she was completed...I fell completely in love.
Photobucket
In July I entered her into the tapestry contest at the L.A County Fair. That day was awful in itself. I got lost trying to find a way into the fair grounds; and ended up walking around for two hours in the scorching heat. The bus broke down three times on my way home. I was almost late for work; It was also the night of the Harry Potter midnight show (I work at a movie theatre and it was insanely busy) And my cat began to die. But Everything worked out in the end. Except my poor cat-Jango Fett-did die the next morning.

I went to the fair this past sunday with my family. And to my amazement when I saw my little cyclops girl statue in the display case...I saw I had a second place ribbon sitting right underneath her. I was so happy. I have never won anything in my life. Now I have. So I'm completely ecstatic.

I guess my ceramics professor Mr. Hillman was right: The more trouble you have with a piece of art, the more it becomes your faveorite. Still considering making replicas and selling them on my etsy shop. hmmmm....I think I'm going to sculpt her boyfriend next.
