Photograph of the week.
This week's photo was taken just outside the 'Dalton Canyon Trail' in Glendora, California. A sky this blue is a rare thing here in Southern California, especially in the valley. This was a gorgeous October day. A nice change from the 100 degree temperatures, wild fires, and smogy skies we had all summer. Luckily these mountains were'nt burned. They are my faveorite to cycle and hike on.

From the walls of tokyo.
My best friend is moving to Tokyo. I am jealous even though she's none too ecstatic about the move. I am beyond excited for her; the moment she told me I started googling everything about tokyo. Everything is so cool over there. So I found some awesome pics of Japanese style: not the kind of eccentric 'harajuku-wanna be-anime-doll' fashion. But real bad ass street style.

This is Harajuku style. Just not a-la Gwen Stefani.

I am in LOVE with that tote bag: "Punk in the afternoon" haha.

Everyone knows I love nothing more than a floral skirt and rock tee love pair.

As a member of the Kiss Army...I must get her shirt. And the perfection of her hair puts my bob to shame.

Okay, fine...It's neon. Not a fan of neon since walmart sold this hideous neon lace bodysuit lingerie thing that literally made me want to burn the whole building down. Hideous. Plain HIDEOUS. But this girl looks adorable.

Ah! I love mixing prints. Only I can't get away with it because I am a 5'7 America Jew. I just look ridiculous. The shirt she is wearing is radical. I must find one.

I love his bow tie. It would be nice to see a guy wear something other than baggy jeans and t-shirts. Blegh.

Hug fan of layering. Love the red in her hair.

Just had to point out the doll necklace. And I'm not sure but I think her earring is a traffic light.

This shirt has a sort of Quentin Tarantino feel to it. At least to me it does. And I LOVE Quentin Tarantino.
Thats just a few pics of the radical style no white American could EVER pull off. Especially not yours truly. Looks like I'll continue google stalking Tokyo for now. I'm hoping to jump the pond and visit her one of these days. But for now I am content with surfingthe internet. And kudos to me...thanks to my bud's big move...I am now all inspired by Harajuku and Kawaii.

Coolest bloke on the other side of the pond.
My American-ness really gets kicked in the arse by the coolness of the United Kingdom. Even it's graffiti is RADICAL! The pictures I posted are just a few of the amazing art done by the quasi-anonymous graffiti artist Know as Banksy. Seriously check his work out. I wish I knew more about him; but seeing as how I just discovered him yesterday and haven' been able to stop 'google-imaging' him since....I am quite clueless. But one does not need a handful of information to enjoy great art.
My article......
The article I wrote about the ASA world FMX championship totally got published:

This is my first article ever to be published in something other than my high school newspaper. I am as happy as a proud papa.

ASA World FMX Championships and moi.
Last night...I got press credentials for the ASA World FMX (Freestyle Motocross)Championships. In order to get this uber special wrist band that would gaurantee me access anywhere--I had promised to write an article about the event. Which was fine and dandy until I remembered I knew absolutely nothing about motocross. But my wristband made it all the better. I got to stand backstage right at the fence. Right at the dirt. I almost got hit with a bike three times!! And it was awesome.
I was surrounded by not only members of the press, but also family and friends of the athletes. As I struggled with the freakishly cold weather and my lame attempts at scribbling notes down in my notebook, a guy came and stood next to me. When he saw me scribbling away, he asked me 'what I was doing' in a loud voice of disbelief. When I tried to explain to him that I was here in agreement to write an article, his questions kept pouring out. I told him I knew absolutely nothing about motocross; he laughed and told me to 'just watch'. I had been watching, but I had been so involved in trying to make sense of what was going on that I wasn't having any fun. I began to let my note-taking slip a little. I began cheering and rooting for the athletes (Nate Adams--my faveorite because he looks like this guy I had a thing for in high school.)
When the competition was over; all of the press ran up the giant dirt hill where the winners were handed their trophies. Taka Higashino, who hails from Osaka, Japan came in thrid. Nate Adams--nicknamed Nate 'The Destroyer' Adams--of Glendale, Arizona came in at second. First place went to Mike Mason of Minden, Nevada. The lighting was god-awful. And I only have a pink Kodak digital camera. Thats why my pictures look so shitty. Even my new photographer friend, Leon, was having trouble getting good pictures with his fancy Nikon. This was my first exposure to motocross of any kind, and I'm certain it wont be my last. Motocross and I have a crush on one another. I sent the article I wrote to various freelancing sports magazines. We'll see if it gets picked up. If not, I'll post it on here.

Paper to Pen.
Luna.
Marie.
Ted.
Ring.
Here are a few of my doodles. All now for sale on my etsy shop: www.urbansplat.etsy.com
None of the originals are for sale. Only copies of the original art on 3x4.5 inch ACEO cards for five dollars a piece.
As you can see I am very lacking in coming up with creative names for my art pieces, but I think thats understandable.
Materials used in these are: art pens, sharpie markers, water color paints, and water color pencils. More drawings yet to come.
Have a sparkly day.
Love, Yelle & Rebelle.
